The most recent U.S. Census and AmeriCorps survey reported a 23% decline in volunteerism over a two-year period. In May of 2023, the United States Surgeon General released a new advisory calling attention to the public health crisis of loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection in our country. The advisory specifically calls out volunteerism and community engagement as a prescription.
