#ICYMI Last week United Way of Central Ohio was honored to host United Way President and CEO Angela F. Williams, JD, M.Div while she visited Columbus to speak at the nationwide SIEMER INSTITUTE Summit and tour the Community Impact Center. Central Ohio remains hard at work to ensure that more families meet basic needs and more students achieve #SuccessbyThirdGrade! https://lnkd.in/edYpzmFM #LIVEUNITED #basicneeds #stablefamilies #InternationalFamilyDay #studentsuccess

We know students experiencing homelessness are 87% more likely to drop out of school when compared to their safely housed peers. In 2023, the 211 network referred more than 5.3 million people to housing resources, more than double the referrals in 2018. The cost of inaction to adequately address housing instability and its impact on our children is too high. During the annual SIEMER INSTITUTE Summit this week, I shared how the United Way Network is partnering with the Siemer Institute to tackle this challenge head-on through a wholistic approach that recognizes and understands how education, employment, and housing are all intertwined. As we look ahead, I'm eager for United Way Worldwide and the Siemer Institute to continue working together to reach more families and, ultimately, ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
