Matthew Goldstein, founder of Besa, spoke with Philanthropy Roundtable about how volunteerism can help unite diverse people to combat loneliness and isolation. “When people connect with their community, other volunteers, the people they’re helping and the problems they’re solving, they become part of something bigger than themselves,” states Goldstein. We’re lucky to have such a collaborative nonprofit and philanthropic sector in Columbus, with businesses ready to step in and create change alongside their employees in communities that matter to them. In May of 2023, the United States Surgeon General released a new advisory calling attention to the public health crisis of loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection in our country. The advisory specifically calls out volunteerism and community engagement as a prescription. Through Besa, the Quinones family has found a way to stay connected and invite others to join in their journey of doing good. Read their story: https://buff.ly/3W725Oh The Quinones family is a testament to the power of volunteering. Through Besa, they are defying the epidemic of loneliness, connecting to the community and helping Columbus thrive. When you give to Besa, you are powering a ripple effect of volunteerism that brings people together, multiplies good and inspires others. Bring people together today: https://buff.ly/4b4P8ZN

Grateful for partners making impact - today and every day. 💚
More than 100 volunteers joined us for our Chamber Service Day in partnership with Besa & Keep Columbus Beautiful! With the help of our partners, we were able to organize a community cleanup in the Linden neighborhood, contributing to the beautification of our city and making a meaningful impact. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers for their dedication and hard work! 👏

At Besa, we provide reliable volunteer support and meaningful experiences that change lives, like our recent experience at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, supporting families and children through an arts and crafts night. These important moments provide stress relief for families served by RMHC while allowing our volunteers to connect with their communities. Looking to serve RMHC or other nonprofits? After researching the benefits of providing employees with a fulfilling way to make a positive impact in their communities, The Columbus Chamber of Commerce employees now have 16 hours of paid time each quarter to volunteer! This is the kind of change we’re celebrating. Our own Paul O'Connor, Senior Director of Advancement, sat down with the Chamber to talk about the importance of volunteerism in the workplace stating, “Companies that help their employees impact the world through volunteerism have a better chance of attracting and retaining top talent.” Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/grpHEFjw #volunteer #employeeretention #workplaceculture #bethegood
